Turning 40

Reflecting on a new decade...

Carlos turns 40

Carlos made it over-the-hill last week, (even though we've been calling him 40 for the past two years) and we surprised him with a little get together with our closest friends and family. I asked him a handful of questions hoping to gain some of his old Leo wisdom. Thought it would be fun to share with all of you!

1.) Spanish: Cómo te sientes acerca de cumplir 40? English: How do you feel about turning 40?

I feel good, I try to live one day at a time (seems like a cliché), but it's true, I try to be the best person I can be.

2.) Spanish: Se siente diferente?

English: Does it feel different?

To be honest the answer is no, I feel the same. If it weren't for my wife decorating with the 4-0 balloons it would have been one more birthday for me. I never have never felt an age, nor given any much weight. Of course, like everyone (no matter how old I am) some days I feel more tired than others but overall I feel the same.

3.) Spanish: Sientes que has perdido algún tiempo?

English: Do you feel that you have wasted any time in your life?

The answer is definitely yes, but I am not saying it in a dramatic way. It is obvious, over the years I have learned not to waste time on things that are not of importance, but also certain stages must be lived so that I can understand what is important. To exist as the person that I am today I had to learn what is important to me by "wasting time", so this leads me to change my answer to a resounding no.

4.) Spanish: Hay algo que desearía haber logrado que aún no haya logrado?

English: Is there anything you wish you had accomplished that you haven't accomplished yet?

Yes, I wish I could control my temper. I think that is the only thing I would like to master and have not managed to do yet.

5.) Spanish: Qué cosas quieres hacer ahora que tienes 40?

English:What things do you want to do now that you are 40?

Everything, absolutely everything I can do, life offers us an infinite number of things. I still have a long way to go, many things to do, many places to know, and many people to meet.

English: Do you feel like you have more authority to do the things you want to do with your new age?

No, I think I have always had enough authority to do things. I say "yes" to almost everything, and I say "no" very few times, but I always believe that I have owned those decisions they have always been my choices and responsibility.

English: Any advice you have for younger people?

My advice would be "live a more authentic life and less for virtual gain". I love the digital age, but not to the degrees that is seen today. Living should be our priority.

And there you have it folks! Advice from an old person! Also, shout out to Kenzie @therambleandrove for making his cake 🤤
